Corey Avecilla was born on October 25, 1970 in Honolulu, Hawaii and has been working with glass since 1990. He began learning his craft under the tutelage of Prof. Rick Mills at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and in 1994 he attended the prestigious Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle where he studied with glass artist Hiroshi Yamano.

Since graduating from UH, Corey has been very active in the community by participating in many educational glassblowing demonstrations at the Academy Art Center at Linekona, The Contemporary Museum and at local craft fairs.
